The Athletic Departments from St Paul Academy, Minnehaha Academy, and Blake are excited to announce the hiring of Hugh Brown as our new Head Football Coach.
Coach Brown has been with SMB since its inception, having just finished his eighth year as an assistant varsity coach for the Wolfpack. Prior to his selection as Head Football Coach, Hugh was named Department Chair of Physical Education and Wellness at Blake. He will start that position in July. Coach Brown will be in the hallways everyday connecting with student athletes and will have the time and opportunity to get to all schools in the program.
Hugh and his wife, Mary, live in Minneapolis with their four children, with two attending Minnehaha Academy, Ruby (2026) and Steel (2030), and two attending Hope Academy, Frances (2028) and Jasper (2034).
“I am honored and excited to have the privilege to lead the Wolfpack. Our institutions and student-athletes are fantastic, and I can’t wait to get to work with them, and for them,” exclaimed Coach Brown.
We are pleased to note that many of the past SMB assistant coaches will return to their roles. Additionally, we are thrilled to bring on some great new coaches. See page two for information on all official hires to the coaching staff. Still more to come as the hiring process unfolds.
The committee was excited about the fit for Coach Brown with SMB Wolfpack Football. He focuses on relationships, has a high knowledge of football, and cares about the personal and athletic development of each player on the team.
Please join us for a Football Rally in early June. Coach Brown will email more information in the coming days.
